I'm Gabrielle (Gabi) Wy and I am a PhD Candidate in Criminology and Criminal Justice at the University of Maryland. I'm currently on the academic job market seeking tenure-track and postdoctoral positions in criminology/criminal justice, sociology, and demography.

In my research, I center juvenile delinquency and the intersecting roles of race/ethnicity, immigration, neighborhoods, and schools in predicting patterns of offending and justice system contact. I focus on how social context may uniquely shape the experiences, attitudes, and behaviors of marginalized racial minority and/or migrant youth. My work furthers understanding of how neighborhood factors and unequal experiences with the educational and legal systems inform life course trajectories and may entrench youth in cycles of anti-social behavior and system contact.

I'm trained in quantitative methods and completed a graduate certificate in population studies through the Maryland Population Research Center.

I earned my M.A. in Criminology & Criminal Justice at the University of Maryland, College Park in 2021. In 2019, I received a B.S. in Criminal Justice and Psychology and a B.S. in Journalism from the University of Southern Indiana.
